As a collegiate runner I have had a lot of injuries from sports. It has given me helpful insights into being an injured runner and a healthcare professional managing said
. Lot’s of people are out there treating runners but not all of them know what it is like to go through a full training block just to have that race day yanked away from you due to poor timing. Having an experienced trustworthy provider can help you to manage these issues.

My biggest injuries I have had are the 3 stress fractures I have had on my left leg. A tibial stress fracture in high school, femoral shaft in college and another tibial stress fracture in college. A lot of my stress fractures come from poor fueling and sleep. Being in college I was not always making the best choices in recovery while also running 100 miles per week at times.
Another reason for these is that I did not eat enough protein and lift enough in high school. I incorrectly believed that running was adequate for strengthening my lower body which I later learned was a crucial mistake.
My last stress fracture in my tibia was due to returning to sport to soon after my femoral one. I was running out of eligibility and rushed back into fitness faster than was healthy. Giving your body time to heal both between workouts and between injuries is the only long term plan to success.
If any of the above sound familiar to you, reach out to work with me in our comfortable office to help manage these issues. There are plenty of reasons why something like this may happen.
